Grave Misunderstanding
In the cold air, Munkustrap rubbed his arms, seeking warmth. Like an idiot, he had been standing out in the cold open air in the middle of the junkyard. Just standing there, not moving around to keep warm or occupied, just there doing nothing; like an idiot. Though he wouldn't exactly say he was doing nothing, he was thinking deeply if that counted. Soft footsteps sounded behind him, and by scent Munkustrap knew it was Alonzo.
"I would ask you how the big date went last night, but by the way you are just standing there; I think I already know. So, that bad huh?"
Cracking a small smile at his best friend, Munk shook his head. "It's not that. I think the date went very well."
"But?" Alonzo raised one eyebrow. He always seemed to have a sense about those unfinished sentences, but being Munkustrap's best friend, the two of them knew each other very well. Munkustrap eyed the patched tom as he stepped closer to him. He could feel Alonzo's body heat and allowed that to calm him down some.
"I do really like her and don't wish it to end, but you know what she's like. I'm just afraid that I'm going to end up just another notch on her bed post."
Snickering, Alonzo shook his head, his paw automatically curving around Munk's shoulder. "Well if you like her as much as you claim to, then she must be worth the risk, am I right?"
"Sure, but-"
"No buts Munk. One of the hottest queens in this tribe currently has her eyes only on you. It's a good thing, not something to brood over."
Sighing Munk put his paw over Alonzo's shoulder, the two friends standing face to face.
"And I only have eyes for her. Still, aren't I allowed to be a little concerned. What if she starts seeing someone else, while her and I are still dating? You know how Bombalurina can be, she doesn't take dating seriously. It's all a game to her."
"Tell you what Munkus," Alonzo squeezed Munk's shoulder in reassurance. "Just go tell her how you feel, talk to her. She might surprise you."
"You think?"
"Yes."
Smiling, they both nodded to each other before Munkustrap walked off. Alonzo watched the silver tabby leave in peace. It was surprisingly quiet in the junkyard, but chalked it up to the younger Jellicles sleeping in their warm beds longer then normal. What with winter just on the horizon. His silence was short lived, when they mysterious brown Burmese: Cassandra, quietly ran into the area. Her eyes scanned around, and then seemed to light up some when she saw Alonzo.
"Oh good, Alonzo." She spoke softly, and moved closer towards the black and white tom. "Just who I was looking for."
Looking her up and down, and of course admiring the queens figure mostly her chest-after all he was a tom, he shrugged. "You were looking for me?"
"You...any Guardian or Warrior."
"Ah." Alonzo had to admit, he was hoping Cassandra had a proposal of love for him; then he could join Munkustrap in having queen problems. This was obviously about business, so Alonzo switched back into his Warrior role easily.
"What's the problem, Cassandra?"
"You know how my den is at the edge of one of the entrances to the yard." She vaguely pointed in the northeast direction; which wasn't necessary. As one of the Warrior's of the tribe, Alonzo had to know where each individual Jellicle resided. After seeing Alonzo nod, she felt it was appropriate to continue. "When I woke up this morning, I heard a peculiar noise just outside the yard. I am not certain, but I think someone could be out there."
The Burmese looked slightly scared, so Alonzo trailed his thumb down her cheek,"I'll go check it out. It's probably nothing, so don't worry about it."
He saw the fear and tension slip from her eyes. On that note, he left on his own, headed toward the northeast entrance. The northeast side was mostly barred by a big wooden fence, except there was a sizable hole in one of the flanks, big enough for even the tallest Jellicles to pass through without bending down. That section wasn't a real hot spot though, so they only had Plato guarding that area part-time. Obviously, he was not on duty that morning, if he were Plato would have checked it out already, or Cassandra would have gone to him first. Turning another corner, Alonzo headed straight, the high wooden fence in view. In his mind, he went through every possible thing it could be; every scenario. Experience had taught him that he couldn't account for every variable, but it never hurt to try and prepare oneself. Alonzo believed that there could be a cat out there. He braced himself for the possibility that they could be hostile and that he was walking into a fight. Cautiously entering the hole in the fence, he sniffed the air. He caught the scent of another cat. It was unmistakable. There was definitely someone else, someone unfamiliar out there, but who? Alert and ready, Alonzo stepped out through the hole to find out.
--- ---
With a deep breath, Munkustrap cleared his throat. Not all Jellicles were enclosed in a wooden den. Bomba had found an empty pocket in one of the heaps of junk. A huge half of a tire provided shelter over her entire living space. It was quite nice, Munk admitted to himself. Every time he entered her den, it was like having a big black archway above him. She had a big den that she refused to move out of. Though the only thing covering the opening to her den was a slim worn and holey sheet.
"Bomba, you in there? You awake?" He waited for a response, only he didn't get one.
His silver ears picked up some noise though, so he continued to stand there. Finally, the sheet was lifted and Bombalurina appeared in front of him.
"Well hey there handsome." Winking, she moved closer to him, her paw touching his chest.
Pressing her top half against his body, her paw moved to cup his cheek. Seeing him hesitate her brows twisted in confusion. "You seem unhappy to see me."
"No, no...that's not it. Please don't think that." One paw wrapped around her waist drawing her closer to him. He enjoyed being close to her, so he couldn't help but start to purr. "I just need to know if once you and I are intimate...once you've had me, will you get bored of me and leave for someone else?"
"Ah..." Bomba smirked, suddenly aware of all of Munkustrap's fears. "You're concerned, no afraid, that all I want from you is one night, of let's face it, really great sex."
Leaning into Munk, she pressed her lips to his, her paw around the back of his neck prevented him from pulling away. Deepening the kiss, she felt him resist a bit, before he relaxed into the kiss. By the time she pulled away, there was a lazy smile on his face.
"Bomba."
"Shhh..." She pressed a finger to his lips, silencing him. "I know I like to mess around, but I'm not looking for one night with you. No I don't know what will happen-"
"We can take it one day at a time. All I wanted to know was that you wanted something more serious then sex."
Grinning broadly, Bombalurina wrapped her arms around his neck. "Well my silver stud what ever shall we do now?"
He lifted her up in his strong arms, mischief in his eyes,"I have a pretty good idea."
They disappeared into her den, not aware of a couple of Jellicles nearby that had eavesdropped. Electra and Etcetera had been playing with the new stray queen, Susperia. Susperia was around their age, just a bit younger then them. The young peach queen, Susperia, looked at her two friends.
"Think we should move somewhere else? Give them...you know privacy?" Puzzled, she reached out towards Electra. "Something wrong?"
Electra growled through gritted teeth. She did allow Etcetera to hug her and Susperia to touch her paw.
"What do toms see in her?" She seethed.
Etcetera frowned,"Don't you mean, what does Munkustrap see in her?"
Leccy eyed Etcetera, eyes narrowing in a glare. However a gleeful chuckle caught their attention.
"Aww...you like Munkustrap?" She was about to swoon about how cute that was, until she remembered Bomba and Munk were alone in Bomba's den. "Oh....Oh! I'm sorry." Susperia patted the top of her paw. "Seeing them must be hard on you." She tried to gestured towards Cettie that they needed to take Electra away somewhere, and Cettie simply stared at her confused. Stiffening, Electra stood up, the other two queens joining her.
The black and rust Tortie shook her head,"I just don't want to talk about it anymore."
With a final disgusted look at Bomba's den, she shook her head and then left.

Cagalli and Sillabub raced into the west side of the junkyard, being chased by Bill Bailey. Bill was hot on Cagalli's heels. The golden leopard queens heart-beat sped, sensing how close Bill was to catching her. Running towards Sillabub, Cagalli latched onto the lemon short-hair just as Bill pounced on her. The three young Jellicles rolled and tumbled into the middle of the west clearing. All three were chuckling but Sillabub managed to peek her head out from underneath her two friends.
Between laughter, she asked,"What did you do that for Cagalli??"
"I knew I was going down." Wiggling free, Cagalli laughed at Sillabub and Bill still laying there,"So I took everyone down with me."
They got up and Sillabub shook her head laughing at her friend. She was having fun with them, so couldn't help but to constantly grin or laugh. Bill was up and already scrapping his back paws, getting low to the ground. He was getting ready to pounce again. Silla backed up, shaking her head, but they knew she wanted Bill to pounce on her; her giggles gave her away. Just before he leaped, Cagalli cocked her head.
"Hey Sillabub, Bill Bailey, what's that?"
Just a few steps behind Bill, there was a beige container, or what looked like a container.
"Hmm...is it some sort of box?" Bill got closer to it, his ears and his round eyes completely focused on it. "Wonder what's inside."
Creeping up behind Bill, the two nudged him just as they walked up beside either side of him.
"Open it up and find out."
Sticking his tongue out, his paws hovered over the top of the container. Opening it, there was a loud pop, and an explosion of water shot out from the opened container. Out of fear and surprise they jumped up screaming. They were diving under a metal tube of some kind, before they noticed that it wasn't making any more noise. In fact, it had only made the one loud pop. Finally, Bill and the two girls peeked their heads out from behind their cover. The opened container just sat there in the middle of a puddle of water. They shivered in the cool air, as they crept out, still eying the mysterious container.
Pouting, Sillabub gave Bill a glare,"That wasn't very funny Bill. Now I'm all wet...and cold."
"Wait, what?" He took a second before realizing Sillabub thought he had pulled a prank on the two of them. "You think I did this? NO! No, no, it wasn't me."
Cagalli shrugged, a little cold, but giddy. She did think the prank was funny, and gave Bill a crooked grin. "Maybe it was Carbucketty."
With that said, and the three still inching closer to the puddle, Cagalli reached down, scooped up some water and flung it at Bill. Gasping, but not in a serious way, Bill pushed her down-he along with her, and they began to roll around. Once the splashing started, Sillabub jumped back, scowling a little. It was going to take her all day to clean her coat, not to mention that the cold was really beginning to seep in.
"I'm going to find one of the 'elders'." She spoke, cursing Carbucketty under her breath.
Off in the distance, two Jellicle males chuckled modestly. Old Deuteronomy broke off his laughter, only to sigh and shake his head.
"I admit, pulling a prank on some of the youngsters around here feels wrong somehow."
Gus, no longer laughing, but still smiling, put a paw on the leader's arm. "Perhaps, but it did feel good to hear you genuinely happy. You, leader, have the sort of laugh that infects those around you. After everything you've been through, it's good to hear you laugh again."
"My infectious laughter, you mean."
They shared another smile at one another.
"Yeah. Well I mean you carry the weight of the tribe on your shoulders...alone. Pranks might not be the best option, but you need some fun once in a while, a way to relieve your stress."
"I agree. Having a mate always helped me back then. We always seemed to share the load. Sometimes even when she would just listen, it helped. Now..."
Gus removed his paw, knowing that despite all the time that had passed, Deut still loved and missed his mates.
"You have at least one friend who is more then happy to share the burden with you."
Deuteronomy lowered his voice,"Just a friend...?"
Gus blinked his eyes, giving the Jellicle leader a disbelieving glance. What Deuteronomy said, sounded like a question to him. Was it just wishful thinking? Or was Deut really suggesting what Gus thought he was?
"Excuse me. What?"
They were interrupted, when Bustopher walked by. Having spotted them, he gave them a cheerful smile in greeting and came up to them.
"Oh good leader, I found you."
The two toms shook paws.
"What do you need, Bustopher?"
"Just searching for Carbucketty or Pouncival. Sillabub ran into me, wet. Said something about one of the tom-kittens pulling a prank on her and her friends. You two haven't seen them, have you?"
Deut and Gus looked at each other and around, while Bustopher stared at them. On a hunch he looked in one direction and saw two young Jellicles playing in a puddle of water and then glanced back at the two older Jellicles. "Oh."
Taking in a deep breath, his white ears flicked in irritation. "Please don't tell me you two were the ones who pulled the prank."
"Guilty," Old Deuteronomy spoke.
He sighed,"I'm sure you have your reasons for doing what you did. However, you do know I'm going to have to notify the 'elders', right?"
"I expected as much. Very well. Gus?"
He gestured forward with his paw,"Of course I'm coming with you guys."
"Good. Okay Bustopher. Lead on."

Claws out, Alonzo moved toward the sounds. Eyes scanned the area up against the yard's fence. There were a few things peeking out under some grass, rocks, and blankets-poorly hidden objects. Closer inspection proved to Alonzo that the objects were things that had gone missing over the past couple of weeks. Rumpleteazer had sworn up and down that Jerrie and her had not stolen those things. Appears, she had been right, someone else had stolen those objects; they HADN'T been misplaced. Alonzo frowned, he should have listened to his instincts. Cautiously, Alonzo got closer to the sounds, and saw a tail swishing about. Whoever it was, was searching for something. They must have caught his scent, because the noise abruptly stopped and a silver trinket came flying at his head. Dodging it, Alonzo growled out.
"Now look, I didn't come here for a fight, but that stuff is not yours. All of this belongs to the tribe living here. You've stolen-"
"I only took what I needed...and some things I wanted. No one was around and no one complained when it got taken."
That was when Alonzo got a good look at the queen. She was the same type of breed that Tugger was, but she was mostly a sandy color, though she did have white paws and a white bib.
"It's been weeks since any of this was taken, and now mysteriously someone comes to claim all of it? I don't believe you, so by rights all of this is mine. So I won't be giving you any of this. Maybe you didn't come looking for a fight, but you've found one. I'm not going to let you take my stuff."
With her claws now out, she took a good swing at him. Three of her sharp claws caught his cheek. Alonzo gritted his teeth, backing away a couple of steps. The blood trickled down his cheek; the hot sting on his cheek starting to throb.
"Damn it. Look, this is obviously a misunderstanding."
She didn't allow him to say anything else, as she charged towards him. All he could assume was that she was afraid his tribe would kill her for stealing their things. He blocked her attack, and kept up a defensive pose. However, because it was a misunderstanding he didn't want to hurt her, least not too badly. He would defend himself against her, though. The sand colored queen growled and faced off against Alonzo.

Pacing through the crudely lit corridor, was Otrox. Despite his young age, he was an incredibly tall tom. Being a warrior trainee, he was buff, but even he seemed to be above average in that field as well. Otrox is an almost all black tom, except for a few red spots on both of his arms, and red on his face. His white eyebrows were bent forward, his gold eyes narrowed in an irritated and menacing glare. He has a medium length coat and medium length hair that was slicked back. The dusky Grey highlights in his hair aren't too noticeable when he's immobile. Fortunately, the tom had restless legs, so his highlights shimmer every time he takes a step. Even in the subtle lighting, his Grey strands sparkled every time he moved. He didn't falter in his pacing, and grew more distracted the longer he was forced to wait. Otrox had been summoned to the bosses 'office', and Otrox was still unsure why. Whatever Macavity wanted, he felt-arrogantly enough- that it could have waited. He had been engaged in some rough training, which he was anxious to get back to. Another few times up and down the corridors did nothing to relieve his anxiety. There had been others that he saw walking through the halls, but no one he had made a point to know, either on a name basis or by appearance. Impatiently, Otrox stopped in front of Macavity's large door, growling out. Reaching out, he attempted to turn the knob, only to find it locked. He yelled out in fury, running frantic paws through his hair. There was a sharp click that got Otrox's attention. Slowly, the door opened, and the tall brown Maine Coon, Endrance (all serene and confident), took a hard glance at the ragged and more out of control style that Otrox adorned.
Smirking to himself, Endrance moved passed Otrox,"Might want to do something about that bee's nest of yours before you meet Macavity. And find something to smother that foul smell as well."
Otrox didn't even think he grabbed Endrance roughly by his shoulder, moving to punch the brown tom. Endrance knew long ago, how hot of a temper Otrox had, so didn't even flinch when he was pulled back. Narrowing his eyes, he used his power to stop Otrox in his tracks. The black tom gazed around him nervously, as the sudden blackness around him startled him. It wasn't pitch black, a closer look proved he was in some sort of dark alley. A painful shrieking noise made Otrox jump and swirl around. He growled out threateningly, before realizing the dark alley was gone and he was still standing in the hallway. In the distance, he saw Endrance unharmed, turning down another corner.
"Stupid Superior voodoo tom, with a sizable stick shoved up his rear-end!" Otrox muttered.
Cats born with mystical powers always unsettled him, yes he pretty much hated them. Turning on his heel, he slipped into Macavity's office bowing his head, as much as he hated doing that. He heard the displeased sigh of Macavity.
"That voodoo tom may have a stick shoved up his ass, but I will not tolerate others speaking badly of my most trusted agents. Another offense like that against any of them, and I will have you punished. Understood?"
"Yes, Lord Macavity." He raised up his head, and realized then that there was another in the room besides them. A Silver and Scarlett Tabby with shorter hair. Macavity took note of Otrox staring at the other tom, silently standing in the corner.
"Meet Chaos." Macavity spoke with great interest.
Rolling his eyes, Otrox growled under his breath. "Fine."
He briefly nodded at the tom, but his attention was back on Macavity. He bit his lip, trying to say what he wanted to say, without his offensive mouth getting the better of him.
"At the risk of sounding rude and impatient...can you just tell me why you've asked me here?"
Macavity could sense the tom just wanted to go back to the other trainee's and continue training. Truth be told, Otrox had already gotten pretty much all he would get from the training. He was one of the most promising recruits and one of the youngest. Macavity mused, if the tom completed his task and was worthy, he'd join the warriors as the youngest ever to become a warrior.
"To the point. I have an assignment for you. As your training has run it's coarse, I'm giving you the chance to prove to me that you are warrior material."
He nodded his head, not showing his excitement, though he had been waiting for an opportunity like this for a while. "Of course, What do you need me to do?"
"I need you to be Chaos' bodyguard."
Otrox face fell, as he stole another glance at Chaos. Without thinking his upper lip peeled back into a snarl.
"I have to guard that?!"
"If you still wish to become a Warrior."
Otrox felt the irritation, but smothered it down, grunting. "As you command, Lord. What exactly am I suppose to be guarding him against?"
"Myself." Chaos hissed. "You're not my bodyguard, you're my jailer."
"Oh now Chaos. You're a guest here now. Must you think the worse?"
Chaos felt his one paw curl into a fist, but taking in a few breaths, he relaxed enough to walk passed the two toms. Otrox gave a final bow, then followed out after Chaos. Macavity heard his door slam. Otrox really wasn't subtle, still the ginger tom didn't know if he should be glad he paired those two together, or worried. Chaos could be clever, but he didn't feel Chaos was good enough to corrupt the surly Otrox.

Old Deuteronomy and Gus, escorted by Bustopher Jones walked into a very big sized 'den'. It was built many years ago, when the previous leader issued that there was to be a counsel. It did help the leader a great deal, and helped keep the tribe in order, instead of it being out of control. As of this moment the counsel consisted of, Old Deuteronomy (obviously), Gus, Gus' oldest son Asparagus Jr., Deuteronomy's second oldest son Admetus, Bustopher Jones, the train-master Skimbleshanks, the tribal healer Jennyanydots, the chief guardian Munkustrap, and most recently Jellylorum had been appointed as a counsel member. Out of the members, Munkustrap, Jellylorum and Jennyanydots were missing from the room. The den was not used for anything else aside from meetings. Admetus stood off to the side, near Skimbleshanks. Asparagus watched his father enter the room, giving Bustopher a confused look.
"Bustopher?" Asparagus Jr, would have though Old Deuteronomy called a meeting at the last minute.
"Ah am curious as tae why we've been called as well." Skimble added.
"We have a little bit of a problem. Seems I caught our leader pulling a prank on a few of the youngsters."
Skimble blinked, before he started laughing. "You? Oooh...You're serious?"
"I know I'm the youngest of the group, but as long as the younger jellicles didn't get harmed by this prank, I don't see the problem."
"And because you are the youngest, Admetus, we'll let that slide." Asparagus spoke, before adding,"For anyone else, as long as no one got hurt, would probably only get scolded, but for a leader to act that way...it just seems unacceptable."
"Now son, relax. It wasn't the leader's idea. I was the one who persuaded him to do it. It was part of five stage rec-"
"Oh that is so like you, dad. Why do you always act so juvenile?"
Deuteronomy gave Gus a look and before the rest of them added their two cents, he shook his head. "It was a one time occurrence. It won't be happening again, I'll find another way to have fun and relieve stress. And as for Bill Bailey, Cagalli, and Sillabub, I will apologize to them. Fair enough?"
Gus shyly smirked,"I don't think you need to apologize to Bill or Cagalli, those two seemed to be enjoying themselves."
"I think that's fair." Bustopher spoke out, just in case Asparagus Jr. had any more to say regarding the issue.
Hearing a small knock on the door, Bustopher, being the closest, moved towards the opening. Opening the wooden door that they had put in place, for more security and privacy, he was greeted by Plato. Plato didn't look too happy.
"Do any of you happen to know where Alonzo is? We were planning on getting together, he never showed. That was an hour ago."
After a moments silence, Admetus spoke,"Doesn't seem like anyone here knows where he is. Do you think he's alright?"
"Well, I'm not sure. It's not like Alonzo to wait so long to show up."
Deuteronomy frowned at Plato's words,"Come with me, will locate Tantomile, she'll be able to find out where Alonzo is."
--- ---
Breathing heavily, Tantomile grinned, appreciating the fact that the large space belonged to her alone. Least at the moment. The only other Jellicle she saw, out and about, was Noilly Pratt. The queen was sitting on a box, painfully straight, watching Tantomile with great interest. The black and silver calico had been doing her normal gymnastic routine, and having even a one queen audience was flattering. Rolling around, flipping, and running, Tantomile was far from being cold. Raising her two paws up above her head, her toes pointed, before she lifted off her foot, and started to sprint. Pushing up on the ball of her foot, she cartwheeled. Coming out of her wheel, she flipped and landed almost perfectly a few feet away from Noilly. The Himalayan queen gracefully brought up her paws, applauding appropriately for the performance she was witnessing.
"You are quite entertaining. Have you any more intriguing moves?"
Tantomile giggled listening to Noilly. Most didn't like being around Noilly long, since her classier, more polite and proper attitude would get on the nerves of the rest of the more 'street' cats. Not to mention her polite, and proper upbringing was always interpreted falsely; coming off as snobby and superior. Even her words were proper, or some might say condescending. Tantomile found Noilly amusing, rather then annoying.
"Sure I have a few more. Let's see....Oh, I'll do a Round off, it is similar to the cartwheel!" Tant spoke with eagerness in her voice.
Tantomile moved a little bit away from Noilly, not wanting to kick her by accident. Starting off the same way, she sprinted, before pushing off and going down for the start of the cartwheel. Going down, her legs came up, and she began to twist into the Round off. However, she heard a distinctive voice, and making a 'eek' sound, she tumbled to the side.
"Oh!" Noilly stood up, still without it looking rushed or unladylike, and came down to Tantomile's side.
Rubbing the top of her head, Tantomile gazed up, into Rumpus Cat's face."Rumpus. What's the deal?"
Rumpus gave her an apologetic look, then offered his paw to her. "Sorry about that Tant, however, the Leader and a few others are searching for you."
Standing up on her own, she stole a quick glance at Rumpus, before Old Deuteronomy, Plato, and Bustopher Jones arrived into the area.
"Leader!" Tantomile sounded a bit excited and concerned at the same time.
"Good, Tantomile. We need you to locate Alonzo for us, if you're willing. He hasn't shown up for a prior engagement, and Plato has gotten worried about him. Do you think you could use your gift, to make sure Alonzo is not in any immediate danger?"
"Sure." Tantomile wasn't about to turn down the leader, not if she could help in any way.
She did have a gift, but it wasn't full proof in locating someone. Her gift allowed her to see through the eyes of any jellicle she knew. She could hear their thoughts, memories, and she couldn't communicate with them, she wasn't telepathic. However, seeing what they're seeing, she will most times, recognize the surroundings. Rumpus stood off just to the side of Tantomile, with Noilly as he kept his eyes on her. Closing her eyes, she concentrated solely on Alonzo. She didn't use her powers enough to be able to pick up on jellicles quickly. She could start to make out shadows, and her eyes opened wide. Her gold eyes and black pupils had completely faded to a white glow. With her powers in full force, she didn't get enough of the surroundings, before seeing a white fist flying at her face. Startled, she let out a shriek, her power was instantly severed. With smooth movement, Rumpus caught Tantomile in his arms, Noilly standing behind them, a paw over her surprised mouth. Tant had one paw over her face, but she did give Rumpus a small smile.
"You okay, Tantomile?"
"Yes, Thanks Rumpus." Giving the leader a frown she shook her head,"I couldn't figure out where Alonzo was, I was distracted by a fist coming towards me...him."
Deuteronomy shook his head,"Do not trouble yourself, you tried. I won't put you through something that uncomfortable again."
"Should we form search parties? I doubt he could be too far from the junkyard. He's only been missing for an hour, maybe a couple." Bustopher suggested.
"Why not ask Rumpus?" Tantomile supplied, still in Rumpus arms.
"What do you mean?"
Rumpus shot her a look, frowning. He didn't want the others ever finding out he had a gift, at least not this soon. He knew Tantomile and Coricopat suspected he had something 'mystical', but he wasn't aware they knew exactly what he could do. Still, Alonzo was his little brother, revealing his secret, and maybe losing his role as a protector was a small price to pay, especially if Alonzo was in trouble. Taking in a deep breath, he opened his mind from the mental shields he taught himself to put in place. He felt the aura's of those around him, Tantomile's in particular. Her's was the strongest for two reasons, she was closest to him, and because she too shared a mystical gift. The other's saw Rumpus red eyes glow a darker crimson. They stared in silence, or perhaps shock.
His eyes returned to normal, and he got up onto his feet, dragging Tantomile with him. "I felt him, he's outside the yard, near the northeast entrance. He's obviously not alone. However I only felt one other with him."
"You...You're a mystic, like Coricopat and Tantomile?" Plato questioned.
Deuteronomy shook his head,"We can talk about that later. Alonzo needs our help."
~^*^~
Rumpus growled deep under his breath as soon as he saw Alonzo, bruised up and a bit bloody. A sand colored queen caught the scent of Rumpus and the others Rumpus brought with him. For she quickly grabbed Alonzo around his neck, her claws resting at the base of his neck. The black and white tom seemed to accept the position he was in. She was a bloody queen, attacking him, Rumpus couldn't understand why his brother wasn't trying to fight back.
"Alonzo!" Rumpus came closer, Plato Deuteronomy and Tantomile following behind him.
As soon as Rumpus stepped closer, the sand queen took a few extra steps backward. She brought her claws closer to Alonzo's neck, hissing out threateningly.
"Stay back, I'm warning you."
Old Deuteronomy put a paw on Rumpus shoulder, and the black tom nodded before taking a few steps away from Alonzo and the queen.
"This really has just been one big misunderstanding-"
"Shut up." The queen growled, then glared at the big tom.
Deuteronomy raised his paws up in a nonthreatening way. "Let's all just calm down. You really aren't going to kill him, are you?"
"Why not? You've all come to kill me. I'll give him back, but I want safe passage. Once I get it, then I'll release him."
"Now dear, I do not know what you've been told, but my tribe has no intention of killing or harming you, we never did."
"Lies."
Plato shook his head, the queen was impossible. "We are of the Jellicle Tribe. Surely you have heard of us."
"Jellicles do not harm others, except in self defense. We treat outsiders with respect, and they are more then welcome to join our community or continue on. But killing...we don't do that. The Hexes, living in the heart of the city, that sounds more like their style." Rumpus looked at his brother, suddenly aware of why Alonzo had refrained himself from hurting her. If this was a misunderstanding, and he had hurt her, she probably never would have listened to them now, or would ever trust them.
She still kept a firm hold on Alonzo, but Tantomile could see doubt starting to fill her eyes. "I have heard of a peace loving tribe, benevolent and welcoming of outsiders. I just...always thought it was a myth."
"It is not. What's your name?"
"Kara."
"Alright Kara. Trust me. I am the Jellicle leader. Just let Alonzo go, no one will harm you. You can go on your way or stay in our hospitality for a little while if you desire to."
There was a pause, before she retracted her claws and released her hold on Alonzo. He was a little unbalanced and reached out. Rumpus steadied his brother, pulling Alonzo into his embrace. Deuteronomy gave his paw to Kara, and Kara reluctantly took it. She frowned at Rumpus and Alonzo, but not being very good at apologies, said nothing. Tantomile and Plato took her inside the yard, followed closely by Deuteronomy. Rumpus and Alonzo were the last two to enter back into the yard.
"You have a funny way of finding girls."
Rolling his eyes, Alonzo punched-playfully-Rumpus right shoulder.
"We're stopping by Jenny's tonight. Oh don't give me that look. She'll probably only keep you overnight for observation. Consider yourself lucky."
"Thanks, Rumpus. For having my back."
He gave Alonzo a brotherly kiss on the cheek, grinning at Alonzo's fake disgusted face. "Always, bro."

To Year One Fanart
