Within Each Moment
Softly, the breeze blew through the junkyard, lifting some of the lighter pieces of junk. The breeze also ruffled through the fur on those Jellicles gathered in the central area of the yard. It was a cool breeze in the warm crisp air. Old Deuteronomy had woken bright and early and now sat happily on the tire. One of the newer Jellicles, Deuteronomy noted, came forward. She was a white and black patched Queen with flecks of Scarlett fur. He thought through the different names, since there had been quite a few new Jellicles joining them in the past month, as she approached him.
"Good Mornin', Leadah." Came her sweet accented voice.
The name jumped to the front of his mind and he let a smile ease onto his face,"Good morning, Seffina."
Smiling broadly, she gestured to the place on the tire beside Old Deuteronomy. After his nod, she took a seat next to him. "It's turnin' out ta be a lovely day, isn' it?"
"Quite", Deuteronomy spoke.
His attention was on her, but it didn't stop his eyes from scanning the rest of the area and those in it. Out of the newest Jellicles, Seffina was the only one who said very little of her past. All she has told anyone was that she'd been an alley cat for most of her life. A few of the younger Jellicles were off in the corner of the center, playing some sort of game no doubt. The ones playing were Etcetera, Electra, Pouncival, Quaxo, and the ever young Bill Bailey.
"Tell me something, my child, how are you adjusting to your life in the junkyard?"
"Ah 'ave only been 'ere a week, but Ah do feel comfortable 'ere."
His long fluffy tail wrapped across his lap,"Good. I am glad you like it here. Have you made any new friends? Perhaps one of the other newcomers?"
Grinning from ear to ear, Seffina shrugged her shoulders,"Out of the newcomers, no none." After seeing Deuteronomy's curious look, she continued," Ya can be nosy when ya want ta be. If ya don' mind me sayin', sir."
Deuteronomy chuckled,"I suppose it does seem that way from your perspective. However, as a leader I get concerned over those in my tribe. I guess I just worry how ever one of the Jellicles are. I only want them to be happy. Been leader of the Jellicles so long, You all feel more like family, then Jellicles I guide and govern."
"Even...someone like meh?" She added in a soft tone of voice.
Patting the top of her paw,"Of course I do. I can't imagine what you had to go through on the streets. However, I hope you decide to stick around with us for awhile."
Seffina shrugged,"Maybe. 'N if ya still wan' ta know why...Ah do like the othah's, 'n Panthera, she's a sweet'eart. But, well Ah'm leery if Ah get too close ta 'er, anythin' Ah might say may become ta'morrow's "Hot Gossip", as she likes ta say."
Deuteronomy nodded his consent. Panthera was a refreshing change and a very friendly Queen new to the Jellicle Tribe. Yet, Seffina had a point, Panthera took her gossip to the next level.
"Cagalli is a cutie, but a bit young. Would be inappropriate for meh ta talk 'bout toms wi'h 'er. Least until she grows up some."
"The other young queen, Noilly. What about her?"
"Hmm..." She paused to think about it,"She's of a more fanceh upbringin'. Always afraid Ah'm goin' ta break 'er. But Ah like 'er. Ah 'ave talked ta 'er a few times. Bombalurina, Ah met 'er the othah day. We hit it off, think we were goin' ta go tom huntin' next week."
"Tom hunting?" Deuteronomy laughed,"Sounds like a dangerous sport."
Seffina flashed him a big grin,"For all parties too."
Their conversation was cut short, by the annoyed grumblings coming into the central area. Eventually, they saw Gus being escorted in by Jellylorum.
"Come on dad. Would you just lean on me? I can support your weight."
"I haven't broken my legs, dear. I can walk just fine." Came Gus' slightly annoyed voice.
Jelly huffed, irritated with her stubborn father. "I am only concerned about you. You really shouldn't over-exert yourself. Jenny keeps telling you that you need to be in an environment with little to no stress."
Gus scowled shaking his head at her,"I'm not so old that I'm about to die dear. I can walk just fine. Still even have a bit of dancing left in these bones." He raised his paw to silence her protests,"Going to the center to greet our leader is hardly stressful."
Jelly crossed her arms across her chest,"You're wrong! The center is the hangout, the busiest part of the junkyard. If you stick around here, it'll get too exciting and I'm afraid it'll start to stress you out."
"I love you, my daughter, but I know my health. I know my limits. Stop treating me like I'm brain dead and so old that I am in need of a babysitter to hold my paw. I understand your concerns, but Jelly, for as long as I've known you, you've done enough worrying for the entire tribe."
Dropping her arms, admitting defeat she sighed. She didn't mean to make Gus feel like he was that old. He wasn't even a grandfather, yet; she knew he wasn't that old. Just sometimes his poor health made her think he was older then what he truly was. "I'm sorry dad, but it's not going to stop me from worrying. I mean as many things that happen, and as many risks the jellicles take...some one has to worry."
Deuteronomy looked at the two and though he still was smiling, Seffina sensed that he was really concerned. But about whom?
"Now, now Jellylorum. Calm down. Your father is right, you do worry too much. Gus did fine at the jellicle ball last month. He danced, he sung, he got himself to safety when Macavity crashed the party and he did not have any sort of attack."
She gazed at the leader, wide eyed. He was right, though it was surprising Deuteronomy knew considering what the leader went through that night. "Am I right?"
Jelly nodded slowly,"Yes, I guess you're right. I'm sorry. I guess if you think about it that way, then there's...nothing to worry about."
"Good." Detueronomy spoke softly.
Sensing Deuteronomy wished to speak with his friend, Seffina got up bowed slightly to him and walked away. Putting her paw out, she grinned,"Hi! Ah'm Seffina. Ah've seen you around, but Ah've neveh gotten the chance to introduce myself."
Shaking the offered paw, Jelly gave her a polite smile in greeting. "Jellylorum. I'm considered the tribe's worry-wart."
The two queens chuckled, and Seffina led them away from the leader. Knowing Seffina and Jellylorum would get along just fine, his attention went back to Gus.
The older theatre cat gave Deuteronomy a bashful look,"Sorry about that, leader, my daughter can be over zealous at times."
"Embarrassed?"
He gave Deut a wide-eyed stare,"Errr...umm...maybe?" Walking a few steps closer, Gus cleared his throat,"So how are you this morning?" Gus had walked all that way to greet their leader and show respect, and by golly he was determined to do just that.
The leader allowed his smile to fade. For he respected Gus enough to give him a serious and honest answer. "I'm doing as well as can be expected."
Grimly, Gus moved to sit down beside Deut. "I'm sorry. I ran for cover when Macavity's Hex Agents were taking you away."
"Believe me Gus, there was nothing you could have done, if you were there." Deut didn't notice himself scoot closer towards his old friend.
Gus shrugged,"Maybe...But what really happened? It couldn't have been pretty, no matter how short of time you spent with them."
His voice lowered as he hung his head slightly,"I am fine Gus, my friend. What matters is that I am here now."
Cautiously, he placed his paw on Deut's,"Have you not talked to anyone about what happened?"
"No."
Gus' thumb caressed the top of Deut's paw. Deuteronomy's eyes drifted down to their paws, then locked onto Gus' eyes. "You know," Gus' voice was so low, that he was nearly whispering by now,"You can always talk to me, leader."
The jellicle leader inhaled sharply, his eyelids growing heavy. "I know, Gus. I-" Pausing to swallow a lump in his throat, he licked at his dry lips. Unable to continue, he found himself smiling down at his friend in reassurance. "Deut-"
"Shhh..." Deuteronomy silenced Gus, before he could speak his full name.
No one had spoken his pet name in so long, and he hadn't heard Gus speak it even longer than that. He noticed Gus look up at him underneath those long lashes. A crash and boisterous laughter interrupted Deuteronomy's thoughts and immediately he felt Gus pull away. Gus was already up on his feet-bowing, muttering a goodbye, and leaving the center before Deuteronomy knew what or whom was the start of all the commotion. Munkustrap and Alonzo came wandering in with Rumpleteazer and Mungojerrie not far behind. The two tabbies didn't seem all that frightened. Old Deuteronomy wasn't sure what was going on, but knowing Jerrie and Teazer the way he did; he guess that whatever was going on they were acting like it was one big game.
"Munkustrap? Alonzo? What seems to be the trouble?" Deut asked in a calm voice.
Munkustrap's ears twitched in annoyance, as he threw a bag he had slung over his shoulder down in front of the leader's feet. No doubt it was a bagful of stolen goods, but that was nothing new. What made this time different? Bending at the waist, Deut grabbed the bag, peeking at the contents inside. There were items resembling human jewels, some sparkling decorations, nothing he recognized. That is until he dug a little deeper. Because it looked familiar, he pulled out a light blue blanket with aqua splashes, and a lavender embroider on the edges. The blanket was too similar. Gazing back at Munkustrap and Alonzo's disapproving faces, he sighed.
"Is it-?"
"Yes, leader," Munkustrap cut in, his tone grave. "We found these two outside of the Princesses Den. The blanket clearly belongs to Electra. The one her older sister, Tantomile, hand-made for her."
"Most, if not all of the things in that bag belong to them", Alonzo added.
Teazer giggled beside Mungojerrie. Deuteronomy motioned the two thieves forward. They walked forward, expecting another long lecture about how stealing was "bad". Before Deuteronomy had the chance to say anything, Electra who had been playing with her friends a couple feet away, had caught sight of her blanket. Gritting her teeth, she was up and snatching her blanket out of Deut's paws so fast, none of them had even seen her move. Another second gave her all the facts she needed about what was going on.
Pointing a claw at the two "Tigers", she hissed,"You two stole this from me! You rotten, dirty-"
"Now, 'Lectra-" Etcetera piped up, never too far from her best friend,"You don't know what's really happened."
The glow of her amber eyes turned onto Cettie, into an icy glare. "Don't know? I don't have to know. It's obvious who did it. Munkus and Alonzo wouldn't have brought them here, before the leader, if they didn't catch them red-handed."
The white tabbies ears fell, and her eyes down-casted.
"Electra dear, there is no-"
Electra had her free paw on her hip, shaking her head as she cut off Old Deuteronomy. "No offense leader, but I will not calm down. My sister made this especially for me. All by herself, with foreign and exotic silks. It's priceless." Turning to Jerrie and Teazer, still quite angry, she asked them with a firm voice. "So tell me: Did you or did you not steal my blanket?"
Munkustrap smirked to himself, watching Electra. Thinking she was on tough "Princess" to handle. Alonzo simply stood at Munk's side annoyed by the entire situation. Jellicle cats stealing from other Jellicle cats; it just wasn't right.
"Yeah, we stole from ya, Lectra." Jerrie spoke, teasingly, but Electra caught the small arrogant tone to his voice.
A black paw on her shoulder, Munkustrap's paw, kept her from pouncing on Jerrie in a leap of fury.
"Electra, Etcetera." Deuteronomy finally believed it was safe enough for him to talk again. "If you wouldn't mind taking the bag back to your den. Most of it is probably property of you or those you share your den with. If there is something that is not yours or one of the other princesses, then just give the bag back to Munkustrap or Alonzo. They'll give the rest of the possessions to their rightful owners."
After a couple of minutes of a stare-down between her and the two thieves, Electra nodded her head. She still held onto her precious blanket as Etcetera grabbed the bag of stolen goods. "Come on 'Cetra, let's go."
The two princesses stalked off and Deuteronomy was grateful that was out of the way. There was still the matter of the two tigers his brown eyes were now looking at. He sighed heavily, asking out loud, what to do about Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer.
"If you are taking suggestions, leader", Alonzo boldly stated,"Then I think you should punish them."
"Wha'!?" Teazer shouted out, but Jerrie grabbed her paw shushing her. Pouting slightly, she gave in to Jerrie's small comfort.
"We do this ahll the toime. Jus' goive us the same ol' speech, then send us on our merreh way."
"Yeah." Teazer agreed.
"No", Deuteronomy interjected, shaking his head,"Even if this incident was like all the others, it's obvious that my lecture's and warnings do you two no good."
Munkustrap standing with his arms crossed, eyed their leader,"What are you thinking about, Leader? I am behind any decision you choose."
Nodding, his face turned back to the thieves, his facial features falling back into a grim expression. "What you two have done, I cannot ignore or let this slide. It disappoints me when you both always go out on the town with the intention of stealing from other animals, alley cats, and humans. I could tolerate that, but this time you two are way out of line. I will not allow anyone to steal from other Jellicle members. Because you two stole from Electra, Etcetera, Jemima, Sillabub, and Victoria; I have no choice but to punish you both."
Teazer hung her head, hiding behind Mungojerrie. He scoffed, Jerrie had been caught and paid for it before. Whatever punishment Old Deuteronomy had in mind, Jerrie could take it.
"Until I can determine an acceptable punishment, consider yourselves on probation. Alonzo...Would you?"
"Sure." He escorted two very reluctant and moody tabbies out of the center, ignoring the younger inquisitive Jellicles in the corner.
"What is the matter, Leader?"
The older tom shook his head,"I am torn Munkustrap. In some ways I feel as though I have been too hard on Rumpleteazer. But for Mungojerrie..." His words died off.
Taking a seat next to Old Deuteronomy, Munk tried to fill in the blanks,"You think you were too soft on Mungojerrie?"
Deuteronomy shrugged,"I just don't know. I'm certain that he'll continue to sneak out and steal. No matter what I do."
"Perhaps, but maybe this will actually help Teazer in the long run. If you help her to rethink the road she's currently walking down, then that's something right?"
Once Deuteronomy gave him a smile, he stood up wandering over to greet Seffina and Jellylorum.

"Go to Hell." The smaller silver tom yelled out.
With rough movements a white paw grabbed his scalp and yanked the toms head backwards. Looming dangerously over him was Macavity: The Hidden Paw, himself. A crook of his lips happened before he snarled.
"Such strength, so much fire in your eyes. You will yield to me, you will give me the power that I want."
Groaning out in pain, he closed his eyes. That blow to the jaw wasn't something he was prepared for. His tongue slipped out as he licked at the blood on his bottom lip. Gritting against the pain, he spoke slowly,"And if I refuse?"
Macavity, who still held his head in a tight hold, slammed him, face down into the cold cement floor. There was a whine of pain, but Macavity saw his body tremble. "Then I promise to make sure you go to hell first."
The body continued to tremble, but the silver tom would not allow himself to give up. Weakly, he shifted his weight, kicking out his leg. Taken by surprise, Macavity lost part of his balance, effectively dropping his hold on the toms head. He rose up, off balance, but he was still standing. He flexed his paws behind his back where they were being held in restraints.
Glaring at Macavity, the best he could, he growled out,"Well then you're going to have to kill me, because I refuse."
"Thought you might say that."
Macavity was on the silver tom in a flash, driving his sharp claws into his shoulders. Another couple hits, and a firm bash against his jaw had the tom crying out in pain. Macavity couldn't help but grin when he stumbled backwards, due to a kick to his stomach. He would break him, and he would enjoy it, no matter how long it took. The tom had spit out some blood, and he took this opportunity to knock him down. With the silver tom back on his knees, the way it should be, Macavity cupped his chin. Dragging his claw down the side of the bounded toms face, Macavity savored the wince that the tom could not hide.
"It was of course the wrong choice. You'll beg me before the end, my dear Chaos. I promise you."
Chaos tried to shake away Macavity's paw, but his grip only tightened. The pain, though strong, only fueled his determination, for Chaos had experienced and endure much worse. Yelling out, he managed to break free of his restraints, but not before he heard a snap in his left wrist. Running on adrenaline, he lunge himself onto a startled Macavity, wrapping his good paw around the ginger toms throat.
"Not if I kill you first."
Hissing, Macavity clutched Chaos paw around his throat as his power started to rise to the surface. A dark glow emanated from Macavitys body and gradually seeped into Chaos. He was left with a sense of cold emptiness, but Macavity's eyes are what really terrified him. They were now completely all black, as was the shimmering glow of power around his body. The moment he felt the power inside his mind and all around him, the world of reality faded away. That power and the way it made him feel was all he could focus on. He vaguely recalled pain, too much of it, and sickness. However, mostly all he felt was himself suffocating in a void of blackness, swirling ever downward with no end in sight. Emerging into the dark, damp underground, a brown and black Maine coon observed his lord and leader. The ginger tom stood over Chaos, who was now laying on the ground alive, but unconscious. Automatically, sensing the other presence in the room with him, Macavity turned elegantly to the other tom. If Macavity was at all effected by his time with Chaos, he hid it well.
"Are you sure about this tom, Endrance?"
The arrogant tone was something Endrance was use to. "I'm sure. I just know that he's hiding something."
"Very well. I want to know what it is. Let Charna have a crack at him. See if she can break him."
"Right away. How much time do you want to give her?"
"Give her a month. If she hasn't made any improvements. Then give him back to me. Hopefully by then he'll be more cooperative. If not, then I'll kill him."
Bowing Endrance spun around to go get Charna.
"Oh and Endrance..."
The Maine coon stopped, looking over his shoulder.
"Get Ilarori, too. He'll need a healer, but she'll answer to Charna. If Charna wants to prolong his suffering, who are we to spoil her fun?"
Endrance smirked slightly, looking down at Chaos. "Of course, Lord Macavity. Ilarori won't care one way or another. Is there anything else?"
Macavity sighed, moving passed Endrance. "Find that brown-nosing pissant Pryce. Get him to retie Chaos up, and he better make the bonds tighter. Chaos managed to get out of those."
He didn't wait for Endrance to nod or respond, as he left quickly to attend to other duties.

The streets of Chantilus, were just bustling with life. The sleek black and white tom had already seen some action. Nothing violent, just a group of fans wanting to be noticed and to spend some time with him. The Rumpus Cat had always been a big hit with the Jellicle Tribe, but he was a bit of a legend on the streets. Everyone knew him, which he loved, but like all hero's, Rumpus made many enemies along the way. He was still entertaining a small group of alley cats. A young gold spotted princess sat on top of his shoulders, wad-fulls of his mane in her paws. The mother of the kitten stood in the group of five others. They were chatting with him and with each other, but Rumpus' main focus was the princess on his shoulders. She was enjoying herself, up until the moment Rumpus picked her up off of him and set her back down on the ground.
"Just five more minutes? Please?" The kitten was pouting and Rumpus couldn't tell if she was using "The Pout", as a means to get what she wanted, if she truly was upset and about to cry, or a combination of both.
Smirking at the young princesses mother, Rumpus shook his head, the smirk on his face turning into a more serious look. "I am terribly sorry, little one. However, I think I have stolen too much of your mothers time already."
The female kitten whined back in the arms of her mother; who gave the legendary hero an appreciated smile. "Thank you so much, Rumpus Cat."
The tall black and white tom nodded his head, before turning around to give some of the other cats around him attention. A few of them had already left, so the crowd was down to three cats, not including the kitten and her mother. He greeted the remaining cats, but his eyebrow raised up at the appearance of the last tom he greeted. A tom who was actually bouncing on the balls of his feet out of excitement. From what Rumpus could tell, the tom use to be all white or mostly white. However, it looked as though the tom had painted his fur black to look more like the Rumpus Cat. He was definitely older than the female kitten Rumpus had been holding previously, but he was still quite young. The young tom fidgeted nervously under Rumpus' stare, yet still found the courage to introduce himself.
"I'm Riiashe, gosh! I just, wow. I can't believe I actually get to meet the great Rumpus Cat, Wow! It's...It's such an honor."
Chuckling with amusement Rumpus clamped his paw on Riiashe's shoulder. "Well Kiddo, there's no need to be nervous around me."
His eyes and face were still broken out in a goofy expression. Rumpus truly did love being around others, especially the young ones. However, being around the young ones so much always made him feel much older than what he truly was. The hero heard the mother and daughter leave behind him at the same time that he heard Riiashe snort in disbelief at Rumpus' statement. He had tried, but he couldn't force the kitt to relax. Some cats were just plain nervous.
"Hey, hey." Rii's nervousness was laced with excitement.
It was clear that the kitt idolized Rumpus, so he could only imagine the conflicting emotions going through his mind. His red eyes glowed, flashing a darker crimson color, before turning back to normal. Thankfully, the kitt was too emotional and the others too preoccupied to see the slight change. His body prickled with an odd sensation, one that normally happened a lot in the junkyard. It was a power he'd had for years, ever since he became a teenager. The power was, in his mind, useless, and wasn't something he discussed with anyone. There was suspicion in his mind, for he believed Tantomile or Coricopat were aware of his gift, or if they weren't aware they at the very least had an inkling. Not that it mattered one way or another. Even without training, he had caught on pretty quickly that the only power he had was being able to sense the other cats in the yard. He could sense each individuals aura, or soul, because each one had their own unique presence according to his power. He could sense the presence or aura of normal cats as well, but he was more sensitive to Jellicles, and Hexes. Though most Hex cats were Jellicle cats, only exiled from the junkyard. Also, he had learned without training, to build up mental shields, so he wouldn't constantly sense the Jellicles around him in the yard. It was easy to block out normal house cats. This time was different, his powerhad caught on to a soul of a Jellicle, one he had never felt before, and thus was unable to block it. The presence was close now. Curling his paws into fists, he prepared himself for the possibility that this Jellicle may be an unfriendly Hex Agent.
"Hello?"
A paw was waved in his face. Focusing back down on Riiashe, he cocked an eyebrow up in confusion. "I'm sorry, what?"
The look of disappointment was an instant reaction, but the young tom continued on. "I was only wondering if you knew how many bad guys you've defeated on the streets."
"Oh ummm..." He paused. It was a question most often asked of him, but he never had a good answer. He just never thought to keep count; he simply acted on impulse whenever someone was in trouble. "Altogether, I really don't know. There were some thugs trying to mug some tom the other night-."
The presence was growing stronger and he could have sworn he heard the cry of a queen in trouble.
"Excuse Me." He managed to politely say, before he rushed away. There was a pause from Riiashe, before he chased after Rumpus Cat. Rumpus picked up Riiashe's scent following him and he growled low in his throat.
"Turn around, Kitt. I don't want you getting hurt."
Riiashe stubbornly refused, running to catch up to Rumpus. "How do you even know there is trouble? But, if there is, I can help. I want to."
"I'm telling you know. Stay out of trouble. Don't follow me."
And with that said, Rumpus ran in the direction that he felt the pull of his power. The noise of a struggle was now apparently evident, as was the sound of a deep bass, the sound of a dog speaking or growling. Rumpus rounded the corner, and saw a young female queen struggling in the strong arms of a Pollicle dog. The Pollicle instantly recognized Rumpus, once Rumpus was in view. Before anything was said between the two, Riiashe came flying so fast around the corner that he crashed into Rumpus back.
"I'm here, I'm...woah!" He efficiently hid behind the tall older tom, afraid of the very large Pollicle dog in front of them. He was disappointed in Rii for not heeding his advice, but he couldn't worry about that at the moment. Shaking his head at the dog, he scoffed,"You are quite a pitiful excuse of a dog. Needing to pick on an innocent young female cat to make you feel like you're tough and strong. Now that is just plain sad."
He felt a poke on his side, hearing the tom whisper behind him,"Is it really wise...or necessary to provoke him?"
"Yes", Came his instant response.
The Pollicle was not amused but did toss the female aside. "Take her if you want. She no longer entertains me", There was a pause, long enough for his long claws to pop out and he lunged at Rumpus,"But you might."
Half expecting an attack, Rumpus looped an arm around Riiashe and dodged the dog's swipe. He wanted to yell at Riiashe, for he didn't belong there. All he did was shove the young tom aside,"Get somewhere safe and let me handle this."
The tom did, without argument for once. Rumpus wasn't sure where the queen was, or if she was alright, but knew she was out of danger so long as he kept the Pollicle's attention. His eyes were glued to the large dog, as the two began to brawl. The dog leaned in for the first move, that Rumpus swiftly dodged. This gave Rumpus the opportunity to slash his claws across the dogs face. That attack left Rumpus vulnerable, and the dog got a hit in. Staggering backwards the tom gripped his side, glaring at the Pollicle. Riiashe continued to watch the fight in frightened curiosity. The black and white tom finally glanced away from the fight, noticing the queen that Rumpus was fighting for also hiding. However, he noticed that because of the fight she was trapped where she was and couldn't get somewhere safer. The sounds of the fight were intriguing, but Rii was thinking of the queen. Thinking that maybe he could get her out of there and to safety; that way Rumpus would have one less thing to worry about. He heard a roar and a thud, and out of the corner of his eye, he saw the dog stagger backwards and fall down. This was it, he thought, this was his big chance. While the dog was down he'd be able to get the queen to safety. Jumping over his barricade, Riiashe ran towards the boxes that she was hiding behind. He didn't get far; everything had happened so fast. One moment he saw Rumpus' eyes go wide, the next moment Rumpus was laying on the ground in front of him with blood pouring out of a fresh wound on his side. The dog must have gotten up quickly and came after him. It was his fault that Rumpus was hurt. The rather large Pollicle loomed over Riiashe with a demented grin on his face. Run away! That would be the smart choice, even though he knew he wouldn't be able to outrun him. Yet, all he could do was stand there with a horrified expression on his face. All that bravado about wanting to help. And not only is he the reason for Rumpus' injuries, but all he could do was stand there, scared to death!!! As swiftly as he could, Rumpus used the dogs distraction to kick out his legs. Once again the dog was on the ground. Standing up, not showing any weaknesses, Rumpus hissed.
"What the hell, Kitt? I told you to keep your head down! Now get out of here, before you get yourself killed."
"Okay...Okay,"He snapped out of his daze,"I just need to get to the queen. Make sure she's okay."
"Be quick", Rumpus spoke jumping back from the dogs claws.
"Why don't you just give up? You can't hope to protect them both and save yourself."
Rumpus managed to make himself appear strong, but inside the pain from his side was growing. It was a deep gash, one that needed to be stitched up, or else it would continue to bleed. "I think you're just scared and your using words to establish that you're still 'strong'. Individuals like you are less than nothing."
"Now whose using words to sound strong and intimidating?"
Growling out, he his Rumpus hard on his head. He staggered backwards, flicking his head, but the dizziness didn't desist. Rumpus disorientation was long enough for the dog to go after Riiashe and the queen. The young tom was on his knees checking for any wounds on the queen. The queen tried to warn him, but was too late. Riiashe had been hit and fell, gripping his shoulder in pain.
"No! Don't touch me." The queen snarled, but was gripped roughly in the dogs grasp.
"I'm going to enjoy killing-" A howl of pain erupted from his throat and he dropped his hold on her.
Twisting his claws in deeper and pulling on the tail, Rumpus ducked away from the dog whipping around; his paws flailing about. He got a few more hits in after he released the dogs tail. Taking a protective stance in front of the two on the ground, he glared at the dog.
"I have been doing this a long time, Pollicle. And let me tell you, you are going to lose."
Hissing, Rumpus jumped at the dog and locked his head between his two arms, cutting off the dogs air supply, just to prove a point. The dog thrashed about, but couldn't get free of his head-lock. Finally, Rumpus released the dog retaking his place in front of the two younger cats. The dog gasped for air, taking a few steps away from Rumpus.
"If you value your life. Then leave. Now!"
"Bastard." The Pollicle growled, despite already taking most steps back in his decided retreat. "This isn't over, yet. I'll see you again, and I will kill you!"
As soon as the dog retreated, out of earshot and sight, Rumpus' stance relaxed slightly.
Riiashe shakily stood up, beside Rumpus,"That's it? You're just going to let him go? He's threatening to kill you! Aren't you going to do anything about it? Rumpus...? Rumpus!?"
Letting out a small groan, Rumpus fell backwards. He was saved from hitting his head hard against the cement, since the queen caught him, and lowered him down gently to the ground.
"Wha-?"
"That hit to his head, might have done more damage than he made us and the dog believe. I am no healer though. Hey you-"
"Riiashe."
"Vimala", She introduced herself quickly,"Riiashe, do you know where Rumpus lives?"
It was no surprised that she knew who had come to her rescue; he was a hero after all. Sweetly, Vimala cradled Rumpus' head in her lap. "Rumpus? Come on open your eyes. Stay with us." Her pleading eyes looked back into Riiashe's eyes,"Well? Do you?"
Biting his lip, he nodded,"He lives at the junkyard. I think it's in that direction."
"Could you show me?"
"I'll try."
Least that was something. Maybe they would get him to this junkyard. Vimala only hoped that there'd be someone there that could help him. "Well come on then. Help me lift him up."
~^*^~
Sauntering into the central area, taking his time, Tugger arrived with a queen already attached to his arm. Leaning down, Tugger's paw curled around her waist. The two rubbed their noses together, and Jennyanydots grinned, her blue eyes twinkling up into his. They immediately had the attention of the others around, but neither one cared. Oh sure, Jenny was physically attracted to Tugger, but he was fun. She didn't want anything from him, except a good time. The white and orange tabby queen wasn't in a hurry to put her heart into any relationship, and get it broken. Therefore Tugger was safe. Why Tugger was currently with her, she had no idea. She could only assume that she was just Tugger's latest squeeze; which was fine with her. He often went off, to flirt with and sleep with other queens, she suspected even toms too. However, he always wound up back at her den and in her bed. Maybe in a way she was safe for Tugger as well, since she didn't expect anything from him, but good sex, unlike the rest of the queens seemed to. She felt something swat at her ear, and she blinked her eyes staring up into Tugger's very focused green eyes.
"Glad you're back with me, Jenny. You were thinking too hard on something again. I know, because your tongue always comes out when you do."
She narrowed her eyes, though playfully hit his shoulder,"At least I think. Bet half the alleys you sleep with don't even have a brain."
"Well if you're betting, Jenny, then you'd lose. It's definitely more then half."
Scoffing, she shook her head in dismay,"Have you no shame?"
Poking at her side, laughing, he spoke,"Oh no! Jenny! If you keep turning phrases like that, I'm going to have to dump you for someone younger."
"You're always going off with someone younger, but we're both still here." She pointed out.
All he did was pull off that cocky grin of his. The grin twisted in a way that still looked cocky, but Jenny could tell it was a grin full of tension. She looked around and spotted what or who was causing Tugger's change of mood. Bombalurina strutted in, whistling at a group of toms in the corner. Instantly, Pouncival, Plato, and George from the group made their way over to Bombalurina. A loose arm dangled around Pouncival's neck, the young kitten, not tall enough for her arm to go around his waist. Tugger inwardly groaned when Bomba's brown eyes spotted him at the opposite side of the area. Jenny wasn't completely sure of their history or their feelings towards each other, but she knew it wasn't good. Bomba acted like a queen who can't handle being dumped by Tugger, like she'd do anything to get him back. If one asked Jenny, to her it seemed after all this time, Bomba's attention to get Tugger back has turned into bitterness towards the leopard tom. However, Bomba was her friend so she had no right to talk, or even think bad things about the Scarlett queen. Jenny nudged Tugger, forcing him to look back at her.
"Now whose thinking too hard on things?"
Smiling in response, Tugger nodded,"Sexy right?"
"Well if you're into that smoldering, intense gaze."
Tugger grinned,"And you totally are. Don't even try to deny it."
Jenny never had the chance to respond. They had been, well flirting back and forth one moment, and in the next Bombalurina and her followers were standing there.
"Hey there handsome." Bomba greeted, running one of her paws up the front of his chest to the curve of his neck.
"Hey yourself, hot stuff." Seeing the youngest Pouncival make a face and curve his arms tighter around Bomba's waist; Tugger just couldn't help himself. He didn't care about George hanging on one side of her, and Plato behind her allowing her to rest he head on his shoulder, with their tails curled together. That sickening smirk of hers, he planned to wipe it off of her face. "I see you've been shopping in the kitten department."
"At least my guys are young, not too mention hot. Since when did you start hooking up with the old grannies?"
Jenny frowned, and Plato and George started to back away, but were stopped by Bombalurina. Pouncival wasn't completely sure he knew what they were talking about, but he was certain it involved him somehow. Tugger's paws tightened around Jenny's waist, but gave no further reassurances, too heated to speak calmly.
"With age comes experience. Our nights together are amazing. Can only imagine yours, must be awkward, being as young and inexperienced as they are."
"Hey..." Plato protested, and only got a shrug from Tugger in response.
"So answer me one thing, Bombalurina. Just what age does one have to be before they can ride you? 16? 15?...13?"
Bomba growled low in her throat, her claws just itching to get out and take a good swing at him. Jenny smacked him first. Only half serious since that seemed a bit harsh, he may as well have just called her a slut to her face as that was what he was implying. She was half teasing as well since a part of her was glad he insulted her. Bombalurina had insulted them both, and she wasn't going to lie, it felt goo, like an odd sort of justice.
"Come on, baby." Jenny nudged Tugger forward to walk around Bombalurina, before the Scarlett queen did attack. For she looked like she was about to tear his head off. "Let's go flirt with those girls, hmmm?"
Tugger twisted her head back to meet his and captured her lips with his. "You're amazing, Jenny." He walked them around Bomba and the others, briefly nodding at George, before he and Jenny made their way over to a group of girls.
Bomba shook herself out of her shock. Biting on her bottom lip, her arms hesitantly let go of Pouncival: Well that didn't quite go as planned.
She knew she would owe her friend Jenny an apology later, but it wasn't fair. Tugger and her, Bombalurina, were a perfect match. For him to be with JENNY, of all cats, was ridiculous. And clearly a cry for help. She stood there with indecision, the comforting massage from George calming her enough to be more level-headed. She did say things, she often regretted when she went off on her temper. Pouncival, feeling uneasy by the tension, left barely affected by Tugger and Bomba's "incident", to go play with his friend Bill Bailey.
"You know Bombalurina." George began. "Maybe it's time you let go? It's no secret that you still like him, but clinging to something that may never happen or be ever again. I....forgive me, but I can't imagine that's healthy. There are plenty other toms in the yard that would want to be with you, and not just because you're beautiful."
She should have listened to him, really, but all her mind focused on was that George was asking her to give up her chance to be with Tugger again. No, she wasn't going to let that go, for she knew eventually Tugger and her would be back together, it always happened down the road. Hissing under her breath she pulled away from George. "Why don't you keep your nose out of my business, and keep your psycho analysis to yourself. You don't know me or Tugger at all. He's with Jenny out of boredom."
George gritted his teeth, looking to Plato, who didn't seem to mind. Probably thought it was now his opportunity to swoop in and get lucky with the Scarlett Queen.
"Fine. You don't want friendly advice. Sorry I tried to help. Won't happen again."
He shook his head, wondering what he or any other tom saw in this queen. His tail sponging out, he strutted off away from her.
Plato inhaled some of her scent, his eyes lowered,"Bomba, there are other ways to find comfort, then to be involved in a relationship with a queen or tom."
"You read my mind." She purred, though there was still a little bit of her bitterness under the sweet tone of her voice. Rubbing her paw on his chest, she curled herself tighter to his body.
"Would you object...if I suggested we go somewhere more private?"
She cut him off, with a kiss, a desperate sloppy kiss, already dragging him away. Plato didn't put up any resistance to being tugged along, George noted with disgust. On the opposite side of the central area, Demeter sat with Victoria. The white short-hair queen's paw laid gently in Demeter's paw. She trusted her own instincts, and in her other senses, but being blind, she often felt more comfortable with someone else she trusted with her. Demeter made a small squeak, and Victoria felt the pulse in Demeter's wrist beat faster. This could only mean a tom, that she either liked or an attractive tom just walked in, or was walking towards them. Her assumptions were correct, when she heard the deep attractive voice of Rum Tum Tugger.
"You girls busy?" Tugger grinned, Jenny still with him. She unhooked herself from Tugger's arm, and gave him some space.
That allowed Demeter to stand up and blush when Tugger willingly placed his arm around her waist. "Come on Vicky, there's plenty of room for you in these arms as well." He reached his paw down, and gently touched hers with it. She gasped slightly, but using his paw to guide her, raised up and curled into his other arm. Jenny watched, a smirk on her face. Tugger wouldn't change, least not anytime soon. She had to admit, she had a hard time picturing him actually settling down with a queen, a tom, or two. Victoria, the young blind princess was smiling brightly, and Demeter was soaking up every moment. It was quite a sight. Though Tugger was engaged with them, and in deep conversation; talking about himself, about them, and yes even telling stories, Jenny noticed his eyes would every so often glance in her direction. All she did was smirk, nod back, maybe add something to their conversation, but kept her distance. Not because she was anti-social. Just it was another way for her to ensure she didn't get emotionally involved with Tugger. There was a tug on her tail, and she peered down. The very new and very young kitten, Cagalli, suddenly stood there. She had similar markings to Tugger, though her body was mostly a golden brown, rather then black. Her vest was not fully developed either, because of her age. There was just the puff of fluffier fuzz around her neck, it was actually rather cute.
She stood there, wide green eyes staring at her. "Jennyanydots?"
"Yes...that's me."
"Ermm...well...um Guardian 'Metus, he asked me to find you. He said..." She paused, rolling her eyes up as if to think about what she was suppose to say to her. "He found some cats bringing in Rumpus...injured."
"Bloody Hel..." Jenny stopped herself from swearing in front of the kitt. Pinching the bridge of her nose, she sighed, Tugger, Victoria and Demeter now focusing their attention on Jenny. Speaking at them, Jenny shook her head,"That tom...he is constantly getting himself hurt. I swear he goes off into Pollicle camps, and Alley Thug hangouts with a bulls eye tied around his neck."
Demeter tilted her head,"He does go off a lot, but I don't...think it's his intention to get hurt every time."
"But it does happen nearly every time." Tugger confirmed, not meaning to imply that the tom wanted to get hurt, though it seemed that way more often then not.
Jenny thanked Cagalli, patting her gold and black head, then walked closer to Tugger. "I should go. It could be serious."
Nodding, he leaned down, kissing her softly,"Go on then. Go and save the day."
Jenny frowned, since she really wasn't a savior, just a healer, though nodded, then whispered,"And if you get lucky while I'm away, I want details mister."
"That's a deal."
Turning back to Cagalli, she asked,"Where are they? Do you know?"
"Um...East Entrance."
She didn't stay another second, and went on her way to find Admetus with and injured Rumpus. She weaved through the narrow passageways, and finally came upon the group.
"Oh thank god, Jenny. Hurry. I am no healer, I have no idea how bad off he is." Admetus moved to allow Jenny to reach Rumpus.
Jenny walked closer, acutely aware of another young tom with Rumpus body, a tom who looked nearly identical to Rumpus, without the red eyes, and a mostly white female cat on the other side of Rumpus' body. Going down to her knees she looked between the three, confusion written on her face. Though mainly because of the toms resemblance to Rumpus. Riiashe grew more nervous under Jenny's stare.
"What exactly happened?" She asked, while her paws hovered over Rumpus, small bright, white-goldish sparkles crackling from the tips of her two paws. She scanned the toms body, to figure out what was wrong with him.
"I...was being hounded by a smelly Pollicle dog, Rumpus, and Riiashe here came to my rescue. Obviously there was a fight, and Rumpus got battered worse then he let on. We got him as fast as he could. Is...is he going to be alright?" Vimala spoke softly.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Jenny's power slowly disappeared, and she gave Admetus a grateful smile. "He needs some stitches, and he did suffer a concussion, but nothing too serious. He should be fine. Though, with him unconscious, I'll want to keep him in the infirmary a while, until I know for sure he's okay."
"Good." Admetus agreed,"I can carry him back to the infirmary for you."
Vimala finally decided to speak,"Hey, I know you don't know me, and probably don't trust me. But Riiashe was hurt in the fight as well. Do you think....you could maybe look at him, please?"
"I don't see why not." She started to raise her paws to Riiashe, but he shook his head, getting on his feet and backing away. "Don't be frightened, my...gift, it can't hurt you. It's just a scan."
"It's not that." Riiashe bit his lip. He, well it was his fault Rumpus was hurt, why he wasn't moving, save for the rise and fall of his chest. "I can't stay. I'm fine."
"Riiashe?" Vimala questioned, but he was giving her an apologetic stare, before running, practically out of the junkyard.
"Just who was he?" Jenny and Vimala stood up, while Admetus grabbed and lifted Rumpus into his arms. "He looks...so much like Rumpus. He's, not related...is he?"
Vimala shrugged,"Guess we could always ask when Rumpus comes to. Do you think I could stay, at least until he wakes up? I never got to thank him properly."
"You'll have to talk to our leader, Old Deuteronomy, but I don't see why not." Admetus supplied, as the three made their way to the infirmary, Rumpus in tow.

Back To Year One
Year One Fanart
~^*^~
